The award recognizes a student who has excelled in academic performance and in service to their school or department and the university community.

The Asia Program Undergraduate Scholarship shall be awarded in support of research and academic activities in Asian studies. For purposes of this award, “Asian studies” applies to all of Asia outside Russia, inclusive of the Middle East and Central Asia.
Criteria for this award shall be as follows:
Preference shall be given to certified Asian studies majors or minors.
Candidates shall submit an application essay specifying the research project or activity to be supported.

This scholarship has been established by the faculty members of the Asia Program to encourage WSU students to participate in a study abroad experience in Asia.
November 1 for spring semester programs
April 1 for summer and fall semester programs
Applicants must be in good academic standing.
Sophomore status or above at the time of study abroad.
Have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours in Asia Program courses, or their equivalent.

A minimum of $500 will be awarded for the following academic year.
Sophomore or junior standing in any major.
Must have taken one course out of ASIA/HISTORY 270, 370, or ASIA/PHIL 314, or the equivalent.
Research project must focus on India, but can be in any field: social sciences, arts, humanities, science, education, business, agriculture, engineering, architecture, etc.

The Asia Program Award for Best Paper shall be awarded for the best-written paper in Asian studies. For purposes of this award, “Asian studies” applies to all of Asia outside Russia, inclusive of the Middle East and Central Asia. The award shall normally carry a monetary award of $100.
Criteria for this award shall be as follows:
Eligible undergraduate research papers on Asian studies shall be submitted in courses with the Asian studies course number prefix or cross-listed with Asian studies courses.
